Microbiology Technician - Non-Sterile Lab

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Microbiology Technician to join our dynamic team at FOCUS Laboratories Inc.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing quality control testing on samples received from clients, ensuring that our laboratory meets the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Control Testing: Perform a wide range of microbiological tests on client samples, including microbial limits, bioburden, disinfectant efficacy, total organic carbon, antimicrobial effectiveness, and endotoxin testing.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Rigorously document all data and test results in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as outlined in 21CFR210 and 211.
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory, including cleaning glassware, monitoring and recording temperature logs, disinfecting hoods and benches, managing waste disposal, performing environmental monitoring, and mopping floors.
  • Inventory and Supplies: Maintain laboratory inventory by keeping track of supplies and preparing lists of items to be ordered.
  • Media Preparation and Culture Management: Prepare microbiological media and perform quality control tests on the prepared media, maintain the culture collection, prepare growth support cultures, and manage other inoculation cultures.
  • Reporting and Communication: Immediately report any Out of Specification (OOS) results or deviations from test methods to the Group Leader or Laboratory Director, assist in the investigation and resolution of any issues, and update clients on the status of their tests as directed by laboratory management.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous experience in a laboratory setting, particularly in microbiology, is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while following safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are essential for success in this role.
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
