Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our esteemed neurosurgical team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing exceptional patient care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Job Summary:We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate healthcare professional to work in our inpatient neurosurgery department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neurosurgery, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough medical histories and perform complete physical examinations to establish a record of the patient's current health status and develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
- Perform routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, as well as more complex procedures such as lumbar punctures, sutures, staples, and shunt adjustments.
- Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through applicable state Board of Nursing/Medicine and CCF policy.
- Participate in medical team rounds, collaborate with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care.
- Refer patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment.
- Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary.
- Graduate of an accredited APRN program or a Physician Assistant Program.
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by a nationally accredited organization recognized by state Board of Nursing/Medicine.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) may be required based upon work setting.
- Must have arrangements with at least one physician in accordance with requirements set forth by the State Board of Nursing in applicable states.
- Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
