Job Title: Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic

Channel Islands Logistics is seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties, including inspecting, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel service equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition and identify worn and damaged parts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance schedules to keep equipment available for use.
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, subassemblies, components, parts, or systems.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technical and regulatory publications to enhance job knowledge.
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of semi-trucks, refer trailers, and chassis, as well as perform scheduled maintenance repairs.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools to complete tasks.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Utilize laptop computers to diagnose problems and adjust engine functions.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate.
  • 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
  • Class C License.
  • Knowledge of computerized diagnostic equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Very active, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
  • Frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposed to varying temperatures, heat, or cold, and/or wet, damp, or drafty conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
