Role Summary:

The Global Procurement Manager is tasked with crafting and executing sourcing strategies that significantly enhance annual sales growth and operational efficiency through a comprehensive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach. Key responsibilities encompass supplier development, contract negotiations, and supplier selection.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a vital member of the global sourcing team, overseeing a range of procurement categories at both global and regional levels.
  • Lead initiatives for new supplier development and cost reduction across assigned categories on a global and regional scale.
  • Contribute to the core team focused on establishing and implementing best practices in sourcing processes, procurement market strategies, supplier strategies, and risk management.
  • Develop specialized knowledge in assigned categories, including procurement markets, commodity markets, cost drivers, and risk management.
  • Source products and services, assist in supplier audits, negotiate tooling and pricing, draft contracts, and conduct value analysis to ensure compliance with supplier contracts and timelines.
  • Oversee supplier performance metrics and scorecards.
  • Collaborate within the category cluster/team to articulate sourcing strategies to key stakeholders, including engineering, sales, operations, and quality.
  • Manage supplier relationships to optimize total costs, including terms, freight, unit costs, quality improvements, and inventory reduction.
  • Utilize global commodity indexes and macroeconomic trends to ensure a steady supply of products at competitive costs.
  • Regularly engage with suppliers to foster continuous improvement and strengthen relationships.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field.
  • CPIM or equivalent professional certification is advantageous.
  • Travel Requirements – 25% domestic with some international travel.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a commodity leader/manager in sourcing raw materials, manufactured components, mechanical equipment, or services.
  • Extensive expertise in procurement category management with a strong emphasis on cost reduction, procurement market strategy, supplier strategy, risk management, and contract negotiation.
  • Solid understanding of global commodity markets within a supply chain context: steel, aluminum, copper, plastics, paper, etc.
  • Experience working within a global team and in a global category management environment.
  • Proven strategic sourcing project management skills, capable of independently driving new supplier sourcing and cost reduction initiatives while meeting key sourcing objectives in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing processes, including metal cutting, casting, machining, plastic injection molding, and electronics.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing global supplier relationships and advanced negotiation techniques.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Experience in a global supply environment and with international suppliers or colleagues.
  • Proven teamwork skills, self-motivated, and strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, ISO, and Six Sigma principles is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle, QAD, or Fourth Shift is beneficial.
