Position Overview: Merchandise Strategist

About this role ...
The Merchandise Strategist is tasked with implementing strategic initiatives within their rapidly expanding division, ensuring the precision and uniformity of all plans, updates, and projects developed. This role involves analyzing dynamic, multi-faceted plans that encompass sales trends, gross margin, inventory, and open-to-buy (OTB) levels. Collaboration with the Buying and Location Planning teams, as well as Planning Management, is essential to identify business opportunities and risks related to sales and margin, providing recommendations as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop seasonal business strategies in partnership with the Buying team and analyze historical data to predict trends.

* Create pre-season chain plans at the class level and manage in-season forecasting of chain plans.

* Monitor monthly performance against sales, inventory, and margin objectives.

* Oversee weekly OTB, identifying opportunities as required.

* Recognize early warning signals and suggest actions to enhance profitable sales and margin, conducting independent analyses to uncover opportunities.

* Collaborate closely and build trust with cross-functional partners to achieve desired outcomes.

* Present and highlight risks and opportunities to Planning Management and Senior Merchants.

Qualifications for Success:

* Excellent communication skills: You possess the ability to assess situations, actively listen, ask clarifying questions, confidently express your perspective, and build relationships.

* A Bachelor's Degree is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in retail merchandise planning and at least two years of experience in sales and inventory planning, sales forecasting, and OTB management.
