POSITION OVERVIEW
MyKelly is seeking a dedicated Technical Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is primarily focused on providing engineering and packaging support within our Technical Operations Department. The successful candidate will engage with a diverse range of products, including nutraceuticals, household items, food products, and personal care.
Key responsibilities include ensuring that our contract manufacturers maintain robust programs, equipment, and processes to guarantee that finished products comply with regulatory standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess contract manufacturing capabilities for product scaling from initial development to market launch, ensuring compliance with expectations and regulations.
- Conduct product maintenance tasks such as troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of product-related issues. Provide on-site technical support for both new and ongoing manufacturing and packaging processes.
- Analyze processes at contract manufacturers to drive continuous improvement through enhanced efficiencies and equipment upgrades.
- Perform statistical evaluations on quality control test data of bulk products to support recommendations for product and process modifications.
- Conduct inspections and investigations of finished goods to ensure contract manufacturer capabilities align with product specifications.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and summaries following visits to contract manufacturers, detailing operational activities and production metrics.
- Evaluate packaging components for current and new products to ensure compatibility with manufacturing capabilities.
- Recommend and qualify new components while troubleshooting and providing technical expertise on packaging issues.
- Offer technical support for all internal packaging and manufacturing processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the food, drug, and cosmetic industries, with at least two years in production or manufacturing.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience with specifications, standard operating procedures, root cause analysis, and problem-solving.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a high energy level to collaborate effectively with Operations, QA, R&D teams, and third-party manufacturers.
- Knowledge of quality technology, ideally through completion of a CQE and ASQ certification program.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Thorough understanding of cGMP requirements for food, drug, and cosmetic products.
- Practical knowledge of statistical methods and sampling techniques.
- Willingness to travel to suppliers and contract manufacturers as required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to travel by air or car, including on short notice, and access equipment in a manufacturing environment. Travel may be up to 40%.
Mental Requirements:
Requires the ability to comprehend documentation and resolve complex technical issues, with the flexibility to work extended hours as needed to support evolving business requirements.
