Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Contract Binding Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for reviewing insurance policy submissions, determining ability to underwrite and price new and renewal business, and presenting quotes to agents.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain knowledge of the company's strategic direction and plan, including goals and objectives to achieve profit and growth.
- Review insurance policy submissions and determine ability to underwrite and price new and renewal business, and present quotes to the agent.
- Develop strong customer service skills (consistency, quick response, knowledge of products).
- Use independent judgement and initiative to support business goals.
- Approve risk based on company and carrier specifications.
- Shop policies between carrier to find the best coverage.
- Advanced knowledge of product lines and insurance industry.
- Principles of supervision, insurance regulations related to property and casualty insurance administration.
- Principles of underwriting and indemnification.
- Excess and surplus lines background.
- Prior experience with a carrier or MGA highly preferred.
- Highly organized.
- Excellent time management.
- Ability to manage and build rapport with team.
- Excellent organizational, written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Risk Management & Insurance. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree.
- Active Property & Casualty license required.
- CPCU or equivalent designation preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Previous knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Agency Management Systems.
- Knowledge of TIF documents.
- Able to work independently and enjoy a high degree of interaction with team members.
- Ability to contribute to a collaborative environment by consistently demonstrating teamwork, high motivation, positive behavior and effort to achieve goals and objectives.
- Self-motivated and driven.
- Fast but accurate worker with a high attention to detail.
- Maintain a sense of urgency and ability to work with and meet deadlines.
