We are seeking an experienced individual to join our team in Durham, North Carolina. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of food and customer service tasks, including receiving and processing patient diet orders, visiting patients for menu selections, and assembling and passing trays to patients.

The ideal candidate will have 1 year of food service experience with customer contact, preferably in a patient care setting. They will also possess excellent customer service skills, data entry skills, and basic computer skills. Additionally, they will be able to lift/push/pull 50 pounds and read/write and follow oral and written instructions.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

* Visiting patients on assigned floors upon admission to explain menu process and collect diet preferences.
* Visiting patients to obtain their menu selections and input selections into hand-held computer.
* Determining food preferences for patients on routine modified diets; ordering additional food items as necessary.
* Maintaining and calculating appropriate patient data according to established guidelines.
* Delivering food trays and supplements to patients.
* Comparing trays to patient census, checking for accuracy and correcting when necessary.
* Ensuring proper food temperature by properly assembling and delivering patient trays; detecting and reporting improperly prepared food to supervisor immediately.
* Revisiting patients after passing trays to assure patients are satisfied; collecting all trays from patients after meal service and transporting to dish room.
* Accurately recording all items delivered to the floor.
* Cleaning and maintaining galleys according to established cleaning procedures.
* Following all safety procedures for using equipment and chemicals.
* May assist in tray line setup, ensuring that quality standards are maintained and safe food handling guidelines are adhered to.
* May assist in the care and maintenance of work areas and alert supervisors to problems as they arise.
* Reviewing and verifying accuracy of diet order and allergen information by contacting appropriate source of information if records indicate potential discrepancies.

We offer a competitive salary of $35,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience. The estimated salary range is based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and online sources. The actual salary may vary based on individual qualifications and experience. The location of this position is Durham, North Carolina, which has a cost of living index of 94.3, compared to the national average of 100.
