Job Title: Diagnostic Technician

At Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL), we are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Technician to join our Virology team. As a Diagnostic Technician, you will play a critical role in helping us determine the presence of certain pathogens to aid in the diagnosis or movement of animals and animal products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform tests to determine the presence of pathogens in animal samples
  • Retrieve and analyze samples for quality and order appropriate tests
  • Prepare diagnostic samples using standard laboratory equipment
  • Conduct routine laboratory testing, including assays such as ELISA, AGID, IFA, and FA testing
  • Generate accurate results and documentation
  • Communicate with clients via phone or in writing to clarify test requests and discuss basic testing capabilities
Requirements:
  • High School graduation or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in a science field
  • Two years of experience in a diagnostic laboratory, veterinary clinic, or other animal science-related position
