The Janitorial Specialist position at ABM is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of assigned areas. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and maintain buildings and facilities, including floors, walls, windows, and other surfaces. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
  • Reporting and Communication: Notify managers of the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems. Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
  • Compliance and Safety: Comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Be flexible and willing to complete all tasks assigned, including occasional use of ladders, dusting and washing furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
  • Specialized Cleaning: Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. Clean and vacuum carpeted areas, including the application of spot cleaning treatment. Gather and empty trash.
  • Facilities Support: Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures. Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
  • Special Projects: Periodically clean overhead vents, dust blinds, and polish wood furniture. Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
  • Security and Safety: Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Equipment Operation: Drive vehicles (if required) to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
  • Miscellaneous Duties: Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned, including making basic repairs and requisitioning supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
