Position Overview

The role of the Senior Application Developer involves the creation, upkeep, testing, and ongoing assistance of enterprise-level solutions that facilitate scientific endeavors while ensuring the safety of personnel from nuclear and radiological threats and adhering to regulatory standards.

These comprehensive software systems are essential for the management of secure and compliant nuclear and radiological operations. Key functionalities supported by these systems include:

  • Monitoring radioactive material inventories across various facilities.
  • Administration of radioactive sealed sources.
  • Provision of tools for radiological protection operations, including surveys, work permits, and event reports.
  • Real-time sitewide radiation monitoring network.
  • Management and reporting of bioassay data for individuals.

This position requires collaboration within a team dedicated to supporting existing applications while also focusing on a significant initiative to modernize these systems using the latest technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain interfaces for data sharing between Radiological Protection applications and other systems.
  • Develop and manage Oracle and SQL Server Stored Procedures, Functions, and Triggers.
  • Utilize SQL or PL/SQL for data extraction or updates.
  • Build and maintain ASP.NET framework/.NET backend C# Web API applications using Visual Studio and Azure DevOps.
  • Create and sustain Web Application Frontends utilizing Single Page Application JavaScript Frameworks.
  • Provide ongoing support for existing Oracle Forms/Reports and ColdFusion applications while advancing new systems.
  • Generate Software Quality Assurance (SQA) documentation.
Qualifications

Essential knowledge includes:

  • Application development using relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Formalized web application development and debugging methodologies.
  • Design and implementation of web applications.
  • A minimum of 15 years of programming and architectural experience.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related technical/science field.
  • Experience with database triggers, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Entity Framework 5 (or later), LINQ, and MVC patterns.
  • Proficiency in the .NET framework using C#.
  • Experience with HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, and CSS3.
  • Knowledge of Single Page Application development frameworks such as React.
  • Experience in migrating ColdFusion applications to .NET.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GIT, or other version control systems.
  • A technical background with a basic understanding of health physics principles.

This position necessitates the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy and requires on-site work with limited remote work opportunities.
