Are you an accomplished craftsman with a deep appreciation for string instruments and an exceptional attention to detail? Payton Violins, a leading violin workshop, is on the lookout for a committed String Instrument Artisan to enhance our team. This role presents a distinctive opportunity to concentrate on the technical artistry of instrument repair, restoration, and setup, while working alongside a customer-oriented team to provide outstanding service.
Role Highlights:
As the String Instrument Artisan, you will play a crucial role in our workshop, ensuring that our instruments adhere to the highest quality standards. Your proficiency in setups, repairs, and restorations will be vital in upholding the excellence that our clientele expects. While your primary focus will be on craftsmanship, you will also be instrumental in supporting our team by offering technical insights and ensuring the efficient operation of our workshop. At Payton Violins, we value the dynamic nature of a small business, where a positive and collaborative attitude is essential. This position requires open communication and teamwork with colleagues across various functions, as well as meticulous record-keeping to facilitate effective operations. Your adaptability and willingness to assist in multiple areas will contribute to the smooth functioning of our business and the exceptional service we provide to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instrument Setups and Adjustments: Carry out precise setups and adjustments on sale, rental, and customer instruments to ensure optimal performance.
- Restoration and Repair: Execute detailed restoration and repair work on client and in-house instruments, maintaining the highest quality standards. Experience with bows is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Workshop Oversight: Manage the organization and cleanliness of the workshop, ensuring it is well-stocked with necessary supplies and materials.
- Technical Assistance: Collaborate with the Payton Violins team to provide technical expertise and address customer inquiries related to instrument care and maintenance.
- Quality Control: Ensure all instruments leaving the workshop meet Payton Violins' stringent quality standards.
- Innovation and Enhancement: Contribute to the development of new techniques and processes to improve workshop efficiency and product quality.
- Sales Support: Work with the sales team to provide instrument adjustments and customizations, and offer additional support as needed.
