Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious Associate Attorney to join our team. As an Associate Attorney at Aleshire & Wynder, LLP, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of challenging legal projects, including cannabis law, code enforcement, contracts and public works, economic development, education, elections, energy and utilities, environment and natural resources, ethics and open government, franchises, housing, labor and employment, land use and zoning, litigation, mining, mobile home parks and rent control, property acquisition and takings, public agency organization, public finance, public safety, real estate, risk management and torts, telecommunications, toxics and hazardous waste, and water.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with clients to provide expert guidance on legal best practices and offer invaluable legal support.
  • Research and analyze the law on complex issues and write briefs for submission to a Supervising Attorney(s).
  • Analyze and summarize complicated legal documents, including contracts, and suggest alterations to those documents.
  • Perform discovery of various electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for litigation.
  • Perform due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts and agreements.
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents to reveal potential legal liabilities for our clients.
  • Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
  • Represent clients in court or before government agencies.
  • Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
  • Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.
  • Search for and examine public and other legal records to write opinions or identify complexities.
  • Confer with colleagues with specialties in appropriate areas of legal issue to establish and verify bases for legal proceedings.
  • Maintain communication with a client concerning representation as needed under the discretion of the Supervising Attorney(s).
  • Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2-6 years of related experience.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • A current license to practice law in the state of California.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to persuade and negotiate.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and competency with legal software and tools.
  • A professional attitude, strong personal ethics, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of the legal profession.
