Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the integration of aircraft cockpit systems and components, including Flight Management Computer (FMC), Primary Flight Displays (PFDs), Control Display Units (CDUs), Flight Navigation and Guidance systems, Position, Navigation, Timing (PNT) equipment, and other various avionics systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement requirements for avionics systems integration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop avionics systems
  • Conduct trade studies and analyze performance of avionics systems
  • Develop and maintain system safety documents
  • Manage technical relationships with suppliers and partners
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 5 years of related experience, or Master's degree in a STEM field and 3 years of related experience, or Ph.D. in a STEM field and 0 years of related experience
  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Special program access
  • Experience with COTS/MIL-COTS hardware functional design and performance analysis
  • Experience with design, development, and integration of flight deck equipment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Experience with trade studies, documenting subsystem architectures, analyzing performance, and evaluating Technology Readiness Level (TRL)
  • Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools
  • Experience with Military Navigation and Navigation Aids
  • Experience with integrating Military Navigation instrumentation on aircraft and interfacing with mission software
  • Integration and/or Design experience with avionics systems as applied to military aircraft
  • Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
  • Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and conducting technical evaluations
