JOB OVERVIEW

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers professional nursing services to designated patients. This role operates under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse (RN) to engage in the nursing process, which includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The LPN is tasked with providing age-appropriate care tailored to the assigned area. Responsibilities include upholding practice standards, adhering to established policies and procedures, managing medical supplies and equipment, and fostering collaboration with medical and support staff. The LPN plays a vital role in advancing the facility's mission, enhancing patient satisfaction, and recognizing system challenges as opportunities for enhancement.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
  • Complies with attendance and punctuality standards of the hospital and department.
  • Conducts all responsibilities in alignment with the organization's core values, mission, and vision.
  • Performs additional duties as necessary and fulfills all job functions in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in relevant areas of responsibility through self-education and participation in ongoing educational programs.
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory training and competency evaluations promptly.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in providing care to all patients, considering age, gender, weight, and specific needs. For non-clinical roles, has completed training and demonstrates age-specific customer service skills.
  • Utilizes protective clothing and equipment as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • General setting: Operates in a well-lit, climate-controlled area with moderate noise levels.
  • May encounter high noise levels and bright lighting.
  • May be exposed to limited hazardous materials or bodily fluids, as well as infectious agents.
  • Must be adaptable to shifting tasks of varying nature without losing efficiency or composure.
  • May experience periods of high stress and variable workloads.
  • May be required to work overtime as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Vocational/Technical Degree from an accredited Practical Nursing program (Required).
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 1 - 2 years of Practical Nursing experience (Preferred).
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
  • Mandatory: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current Georgia license, Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • For Behavioral Health Employees: Crisis Response Training required within two months of hire (Mandatory).
