POSITION OVERVIEW: The Clinical Faculty in Osteopathic Principles and Practice is an experienced professional with a comprehensive understanding of Osteopathic Medicine. The selected candidate will engage in teaching responsibilities within the Osteopathic Principles and Practices course, serving as both a table trainer and lecturer for first and second-year osteopathic medical students. The annual compensation for this role is $100,000.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following academic duties may be expected from the Clinical Faculty member:
  • Act as an instructor and table trainer for the OPP course;
  • Facilitate Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions for second-year students;
  • Guide students in the clinical examination and History and Physical Exam course;
  • Develop a detailed course syllabus, outlining assignments and readings for both laboratory exercises and discussions;
  • Assist in supervising the Simulation Lab as required;
  • Participate in interviews for prospective College of Medicine candidates;
  • Serve on various committees and act as an advisor to assigned students and clubs;
  • Conduct at least two scholarly activities or research projects annually;
  • Create educational materials including audiovisual aids, demonstration models, and lectures;
  • Prepare and deliver demonstrations, lectures, and small group discussions, coordinating with fellow faculty members;
  • Develop evaluation tools to assess student performance and identify areas needing improvement;
  • Attend approved meetings that contribute to professional development;
  • Receive direction and assignments from the Assistant Dean of Pre-Clinical Education;
  • Contribute to overall student success through advising and supporting student outcomes;
  • Support the mission of LECOM by participating in institutional fundraising and events;
  • Engage in scholarly activities to enhance the educational experience for students;
  • Represent LECOM in the community through service on boards and participation in outreach initiatives;
  • Be available for scheduled work hours dedicated to student instruction and clinic development; and
  • Accept additional duties as necessary for institutional needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The candidate must demonstrate the required knowledge and ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and experience equivalent to a D.O. degree; teaching experience in academia with two to five years of practice preferred. Special certification in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is not mandatory, and individual faculty review sessions will be available upon request. A valid NY medical license or the ability to obtain one is required.
