The Laboratory Science Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by conducting and interpreting complex laboratory tests. This position is essential for ensuring accurate patient diagnoses and treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and analyze moderate to high complexity laboratory tests, adhering to established protocols.
- Monitor and manage pending test lists, ensuring timely reporting of results.
- Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments, troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Act as a technical resource, providing guidance and support in problem-solving and test result interpretation.
- Mentor and train students, residents, and staff, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory setting. Candidates must possess a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license, with limited licenses evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Preferred certifications include CLS (NCA) or Medical Technologist (MT) from ASCP.
Skills and Competencies- Exceptional analytical and dexterity skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
- Detail-oriented with a proven ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
