Role Summary:
This role qualifies for our Clinical Laboratory Incentive Program. For further details on the incentive program and eligible roles, please refer to the appropriate guidelines.
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist II is responsible for conducting a variety of patient tests across multiple laboratory disciplines, including specialized laboratories, to support clinical operations.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday with flexible hours. Participation in a 24-hour on-call rotation is required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Troubleshoots issues related to equipment, test outcomes, specimens, and workflow.
2. May take on leadership roles such as Lead Technologist or Program Manager in areas including quality assurance, training, competency, and safety.
3. Oversees the daily functions of a laboratory section or designated work area.
4. Engages in team collaborations or special projects as assigned.
5. Executes complex testing procedures, including specialized chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological analyses, while monitoring reactions and providing data.
6. Conducts quality control and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
7. Communicates test results to healthcare professionals and collaborates with them regarding findings.
8. Reviews test outcomes to ensure report accuracy and timely error rectification.
9. Trains new staff and provides instruction to Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, serving as a technical resource.
Education Requirements:
● A Bachelor of Science degree is required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Certification as MLS/MT (ASCP), MT (NCA), or MT (AMT) is necessary.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● A minimum of two years of experience in roles such as medical laboratory technologist, medical laboratory technician, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist is required.
