Job Description: We are seeking a Medical Coding and Documentation Expert to join our team at InterMed, P.A. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate and compliant coding and documentation practices across all medical records.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding and documentation principles, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills. They will be able to work collaboratively with other departments to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and applies knowledge to determine if coding and documentation meets regulatory guidelines and audit standards
  • Perform audits of medical record documentation for coding accuracy based on CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 guidelines, private payer and CMS guidelines as well as InterMed Policies as appropriate
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve coding accuracy and compliance
  • Collaborate with clinical coding educator to communicate audit results and provide education on coding guidelines
  • Maintain documentation of audits performed, such as to medical record samples, coding error rationale, accuracy scores and due dates in accordance with the Coding Compliance plan

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree, or equivalent experience, required
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required; Certified Officer of Compliance (COC) or Certified Risk Coder (CRC) preferred
  • Knowledge of the revenue cycle, medical terminology
  • At least four years of revenue cycle experience required

Estimated Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year
