As a leader in privacy and data security law, Interlink Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced Data Security Law Strategist to join their team in Los Angeles. This role involves providing practical and actionable counsel on regulatory frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, and FTC guidance. Key responsibilities include drafting internal and external policies that align with statutory compliance and best practices, leading internal and forensic investigations during data breaches, and evaluating clients' internal practices and data security protocols.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise clients on regulatory requirements and industry standards for data protection and cybersecurity.
  • Draft and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Investigate and respond to data breaches, collaborating with technology partners to trace incidents and mitigate risks.
  • Evaluate and improve clients' data security protocols to ensure accountability and vendor/customer risk control.
  • Develop training programs to educate employees on privacy and data security standards and procedures.
  • Counsel clients on selecting and managing cyber-insurance policies.

This Data Security Law Strategist will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with technology, intellectual property, and media law experts to provide comprehensive solutions to clients operating across diverse industries, including SaaS, streaming entertainment, e-commerce, hospitality, professional services, and more. To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of privacy and cybersecurity laws, regulations, and sector-specific statutes, as well as experience counseling clients in industries like technology, media, e-commerce, and professional services.

Qualifications:
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the California Bar or eligibility for immediate reciprocity.
  • Familiarity with data security technologies and forensic investigation processes.
  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams, including technology, intellectual property, and media law experts.
  • Practical, business-oriented insights to help clients balance legal compliance with business priorities.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
