Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Addiction Medicine Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality healthcare to our members in a cost-effective manner, adhering to accepted professional practice standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct assessment, diagnosis, and formulation/implementation of treatment plans for patients presenting with Substance Use Disorders, including those experiencing substance withdrawal syndromes.
  • Evaluate and manage patients for Medication Assisted treatment of Addiction, including cross-covering physician teams and providing backup for high-volume Medication Assisted Treatment patients.
  • Work in conjunction with multi-disciplinary teams (MD, Nursing, and Counseling) to assist in managing Medication Assisted Treatment populations.
  • Provide inpatient care by rounding on Addiction Medicine patients during mornings and weekends, including writing post-discharge orders and charting follow-up notes.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working in Primary Care or Specialty Care.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience treating patients requiring medication assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders.
  • Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, Physician Assistant program, or equivalent requirements to meet State licensure.
  • Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License (Washington) within 6 months of hire, and Nurse Practitioner National Certificate, and Nurse Practitioner License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire, and Registered Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire, and Registered Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire, or Physician Assistant License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire, and Physician Assistant National Certificate, and Physician Assistant License (Washington) within 6 months of hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration Registration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in Addiction or Psychiatric setting.
