Job Title: Fire Alarm Designer

We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Designer to join our team at Allied Fire Protection. As a Fire Alarm Designer, you will be responsible for designing and coordinating fire alarm systems from beginning to end.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate onsite surveys with operations team to ensure accurate site information.
  • Prepare fire alarm drawings using AutoCAD based on site surveys and architectural prints.
  • Calculate and design fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with industry codes and regulations.
  • Submit drawings and track review processes with multiple Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Coordinate technical documents with other disciplines and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Modify and create processes to ensure consistent production and document control.
  • Assist superintendents and field personnel on system and code applications.
  • Assist the sales department with system configuration, take-offs, specification review, and code applications for estimating projects.
  • Maintain project drawing files and records.
  • Participate in design turnover and bid review meetings.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Construction experience is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in fire alarm system design and AutoCAD.
  • APS State of TX or NICET III certification preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes, including IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced service/construction team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
  • 90% office setting, including sitting, some bending, some lifting, walking, and viewing.
  • 10% flexibility for site visits and company events.
