Tool and Die Maintenance Specialist

Precision Resource, a leading global supplier of precision metal components and assemblies, seeks a skilled Tool and Die Maintenance Technician to join their team in Shelton, Connecticut.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in machine shop training and experience with operating basic machine shop equipment. They will be responsible for maintaining tooling in a state of good condition, repairing and modifying tools as needed, and troubleshooting underperforming dies.
The successful candidate will be a team player, able to work collaboratively with other team members to improve tool performance and implement process improvements. They will also be responsible for monitoring and recommending the ordering of spare components, as well as participating in continual improvement initiatives to enhance safety, productivity, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain tooling in a state of good condition through sustained maintenance, repair, and modification.
- Improve tool performance through analysis, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving.
- Machine and grind tooling components to Toolroom standards and maintenance books.
- Proactively notify the Toolroom Manager of tooling problems.
- Perform other related jobs to maintain production tooling.
- Monitor and recommend the ordering of spare components.
- Support other team members in tool improvements and technical problems.
- Participate in continual improvement initiatives to enhance safety, productivity, and efficiency.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or receipt of equivalent degree (GED).
- Completion of minimum 4 years machine shop training (NTMA) or related work.
- Experience with using basic measuring tools (e.g. micrometer and caliper).
- Six months experience in operating basic machine shop equipment (e.g. lathe, mill, surface grinder).
- Thorough knowledge of all tool and die manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
