Position Summary

As a Youth Support Specialist at Hale Kipa, you will play a crucial role in assisting youth aged 12-17 who are currently on probation with Family Court. Your primary focus will be to deliver tailored, comprehensive prevention and intervention services to these young individuals and their families. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of support services, including counseling, teaching social skills, providing academic assistance, and collaborating with other professionals involved in the youth's care.

In this position, you will also work diligently to strengthen family dynamics and mitigate the risk of further criminal or status offenses, integrating these efforts into the youth's service plan. Additionally, you will be tasked with providing transportation for the youth to various appointments and activities.

Your familiarity with Hawaii's System of Care, which encompasses a broad network of service providers for youth, will be essential. You should also possess knowledge of educational and vocational programs, as well as alternative educational opportunities. Maintaining regular communication with referral sources and other stakeholders involved in the youth's support is a vital aspect of this role.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth is essential.
  • Ability to connect with youth and a solid understanding of family and youth dynamics.
  • Knowledge of Hawaii's System of Care and educational/vocational programs is important.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
  • Consistent and timely documentation practices.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Current auto insurance and safety check are required.
  • Access to a vehicle for transporting youth is essential.

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage of $16.50.
