GENERAL FUNCTION

The Junior Lab Technician is tasked with the setup, operation, and basic upkeep of equipment within the designated area for work tasks related to the surface or finishing segments of laboratory production.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute various functions related to area production machinery:
  • Interpret Rx work tickets accurately
  • Conduct production operations on specified machinery following established protocols
  • Perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment
  • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment and communicate potential solutions to the supervisor
  • Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lens washing
  • Tool selection and replacement
  • Daily equipment setup for production
  • End-of-day equipment cleanup
  • Prepare necessary solutions or mixtures for the lens production process (when applicable) and ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Carry out daily and weekly equipment calibration as directed by the area supervisor in accordance with established operational procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the laboratory to ensure understanding and proper application of company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area and common departmental spaces.
  • Adhere to all company and laboratory policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with attendance and safety regulations. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Assist colleagues as needed to keep work current, meet deadlines, or maintain an even workload. Collaborate with fellow employees and demonstrate a positive attitude. Deliver an acceptable quantity and quality of work on time as required.
  • Provide training, work direction, and technical support for less experienced staff. Attend training sessions as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

This position may involve exposure to hazardous substances or chemicals, necessitating safety training.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, attention to detail, and capacity to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills at the high school level are required
  • Capability to lift/move up to 50 pounds

Compensation is determined by various factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. Additionally, a competitive bonus and/or commission plan may be offered, complementing a comprehensive total rewards package.
