Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Mercyhealth Crystal Lake Hospital. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and provide patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
  • Select and operate the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
  • Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety, and comfort.
  • Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination.
  • Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • Perform venipuncture, start, and maintain venous access.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media.
  • Verify consent/screening form. Use appropriate scripting, barriers, and identifiers.
  • Flex hours/shifts to meet the needs of the department.
  • Assist physicians with interventional procedures.
  • Practice aseptic technique and observe universal precautions.
  • Evaluate images and data for technical quality.
  • Manipulate and reconstruct digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident.
  • Assume responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
  • Use radiology information systems (including PACS), complete all required records and reports, archive, and submit images for physician review and interpretation.
  • Initiate basic life support action when necessary.
  • Provide practical instruction to partners and students.
  • Complete projects requested by manager or coordinator in an agreed-upon time frame.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography or MRI program.
  • 2 years' experience as an MRI Technologist.
  • ARRT Radiography registration required.
  • ARRT MRI registration required.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Computer Skills - Knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software and Order processing systems.
