KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a vital member of the Serve the People team, the Primary Care Physician will report directly to the Supervising Physician and play a crucial role in shaping policy decisions. Collaborating closely with the Medical Director, this position will oversee the clinical operations of various programs, including Reproductive Health Services, Family Practice, Prenatal, and Pediatrics. The physician will be instrumental in developing, organizing, and executing all medical aspects of these clinical services. The onboarding process will include an assessment of the candidate's cognitive and physical abilities to ensure they can effectively meet the demands of the role. Additionally, the physician will lead the creation and implementation of innovative care models aimed at enhancing patient outcomes across the service areas mentioned.
CORE DUTIES
Primary Care Physician Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced diagnostic tests such as EKGs and echocardiograms during routine patient evaluations.
- Perform comprehensive physical assessments, administer prescribed treatments, dispense medications, and conduct diagnostic tests; review and interpret laboratory results, ensuring adherence to standardized protocols. (50%)
- Monitor patient medical regimens, making adjustments as necessary within established guidelines, and refer complex cases to the Supervising Physician for further evaluation. (10%)
- Evaluate, reassess, plan, counsel, teach, and demonstrate care techniques to patients and their families; ensure understanding and compliance with medical recommendations. (10%)
- Provide education and counseling focused on illness prevention and risk factor modification to promote overall wellness. (10%)
- Document findings, instructions, education, and services rendered in the patient's medical record accurately and succinctly. (20%)
- Develop and facilitate quarterly educational workshops for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants on current clinical practices and patient care methodologies.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Identify components of care that can be delegated to other personnel and provide necessary guidance and teaching.
- Collaborate with other health agencies and families during transitions of care, both physically and emotionally.
- Provide initial emergency care and coordinate ongoing definitive treatment.
- Consult and work alongside healthcare team members and families in assessing and managing health issues and transitions of care.
- Contribute to the development, revision, and implementation of protocols, policies, and standard procedures, as well as the identification of program goals and objectives.
- Actively engage in Quality Assurance and Safety Programs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans, integrating medical expertise with behavioral health and social services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- M.D. or D.O. Degree required.
- Must be Board Certified in Family Medicine upon employment.
- A minimum of three years' experience in acute ambulatory care is required.
- At least two years of direct clinical experience in a high-volume ambulatory care setting is essential.
- Possession of a DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) License is necessary.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills are required.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and lead teams effectively.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) with comprehension of medical terminology in both languages is required.
- Treat all individuals with dignity, respect, compassion, and integrity at all times.
- Perform all other duties as assigned within the MD/DO scope of care.
