Histology Technician

ChristianaCare is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Elk Mills, Maryland.
Job Summary:We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to work in our laboratory setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying specimen identification, processing and embedding tissue specimens, and performing routine and special stains.
Key Responsibilities:- Verify accuracy of specimen identification and maintain appropriate records
- Process and embed tissue specimens according to established procedures and standards
- Cut tissue blocks and coverslips slides according to established procedures and standards
- Perform routine and special stains according to established procedures
- Assist in preparation of frozen sections and perform special procedures
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment
- Organize and present completed cases accurately and according to all time schedules
- Follow all CCHS and laboratory safety policies
- Complete all annual Laboratory Safety Training, including Safety Manual review and Fire Safety
- Answer the telephone courteously and promptly and follow through on all inquiries and requests in a timely manner or escalate appropriately
- Assist with training of new employees and students
