Job Title: Transmission Relay Engineer

Orange & Rockland is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Relay Engineer to join our collaborative engineering culture. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and applying utility-grade relay systems to transmission and substation systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement relay systems for transmission and substation applications
  • Perform relay setting calculations for electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-type relays
  • Use Aspen One-Line system-modeling program for fault current simulations and relay coordination
  • Support field personnel in developing relay system testing and analyzing system problems
  • Prepare outage reports and provide test letters and corrective action plans
  • Participate in departmental meetings and serve on committees as required
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in relay engineering, with a focus on transmission relay design and testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Proficiency in ASPEN and SEL/GE software
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in NY, NJ, or PA
  • Experience with vendor software, settings/logic files, and communication-assisted protection systems
