Laboratory Analyst

Laboratory Analyst - Performs toxicology analysis for both clinical and forensic specimens, calibrators, and QC material using LC/MS/MS and immunoassay instrumentation & technology.

Prepares samples for testing by utilizing various elution and extraction techniques. Performs molecular-based procedures with a high degree of quality and in accordance to established protocols. Reads and interprets data and issues test reports.

• Participates in quality assurance monitors.
• Collects information as requested.
• Participates in proficiency testing.
• Reads and complies with all appropriate safety, technical, and personnel policies and procedures.
• Using extraction and elution techniques, sequences and prepares samples, calibrators, QC, and standards for confirmation testing.
• Participates in new method development.
• Makes calculations and prepares solutions and dilutions to produce calibrators, internal standards, and QC materials.
• Properly operates and maintains laboratory equipment, to include PC's & printers, LC/MS/MS instruments, immunoassay analyzer, refrigerators & freezers, balance, centrifuges, water baths, heat blocks, pH meter, water purification system, pipettes, thermometers, hoods, sonicators, and other equipment as needed.
• Makes suggestions for process improvement.

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with at least one year of training and/or experience in high complexity testing.
• Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical technology or equivalent education and training as defined in 42CFR b)(2)(ii), with at least two years of training and/or experience in high complexity testing.
