Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Director of Data Science to lead our data science and machine learning efforts. The successful candidate will have a strong background in quantitative disciplines, with a Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of management experience in building and leading data science teams, with a proven track record of guiding teams through unstructured technical problems to deliver business impact.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage and lead partnerships with cross-functional teams to deliver data science and machine learning models to support the Albertsons Media Collective business areas.
  2. Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists and machine learning engineers in a hands-on technical capacity.
  3. Provide technical leadership in data science, guiding architectures, data science models, machine learning algorithms, and engineering best practices to support the full deployment process for all models in scope.
  4. Coach team members and grow the skill sets of the team.
  5. Use machine learning to solve real customer problems, power the next generation experiences for large-scale applications at real-time.
  6. Deliver breakthrough benefits to users using source, enriched, and derived data from a range of sources.
  7. Drive meetings and lead discussions, prioritizing projects across the team and allocating resources to meet business and team goals.
  8. Communicate sophisticated machine learning and modeling solutions effectively with intuitive visualizations for business stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Masters or PhD degree in quantitative discipline: Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or related fields.
  • 5+ years management experience in building and leading data science teams.
  • Specific experience and skills working in the area of Ad Tech and/or Marketing Tech is preferred.
  • Track record of guiding teams through unstructured technical problems to deliver business impact.
  • Ability to translate high-level business objectives into actions.
  • Skilled at running cross-functional relationships and communicating with leadership across multiple organizations.
  • 8+ years of industry experience in applying data science: experimental design, machine learning, deep learning algorithms, etc.
  • 8+ years of experience and proficiency in Python, SQL.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in building data science solutions and production-ready systems on big data platforms such as Snowflake, Spark, Hadoop.
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to synthesize, simplify, and explain complex problems to different audiences.
  • Experience with recommender systems, Snowflake, Azure Databricks is a plus.
