We are seeking a highly skilled Millwright I to join our team with Stimson Lumber. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our sawmill equipment and machinery.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Perform daily shift maintenance and troubleshooting for machine centers and equipment, including maintenance reporting and documentation.
- Preventative Maintenance: Implement preventative maintenance and troubleshooting programs for machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Quality and Safety: Continuously evaluate and analyze quality, safety, and production processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement.
- Communication and Collaboration: Proactively communicate with all departments to ensure proper operation and maintenance of systems and equipment, and serve as a partner to machine operators to help improve machine efficiency.
- Training and Development: Regularly educate the maintenance and operations organizations on maintenance and safety programs as they evolve, and identify and suggest new approaches or best known methods to foster our continuous improvement mentality.
- Equipment Efficiency: Evaluate and test equipment efficiency and effectiveness, and recommend changes for improvement to maintain, install, repair, improve, and troubleshoot all systems, equipment, and machinery in the mill.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years industrial equipment maintenance experience, with experience with sawmill operations preferred.
- Skills: Proficient in understanding and working with mechanical systems and components commonly found in sawmills, such as conveyor systems, saws, kilns, and de-barkers; ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints; skilled in welding and fabrication techniques for repairing and modifying equipment components.
- Knowledge and Certifications: Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems commonly used in sawmill machinery; ability to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot issues related to these systems; basic understanding of electrical systems and components associated with sawmill equipment, knowledge of electrical safety practices, and the ability to work alongside electricians when needed.
- Personal Qualities: Team player and highly self-motivated individual; ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment; excellent verbal and written communication skills; willingness to share knowledge and mentor less experienced millwrights or apprentices.
