Job Title: Sergeant

The City of Dunwoody Police Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sergeant to join our team. As a Sergeant, you will be responsible for supervising personnel assigned to the shift or unit, performing law enforcement, administrative, and communications activities, and ensuring the effective operation of the department.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage personnel assigned to the shift or unit
  • Perform law enforcement, administrative, and communications activities
  • Ensure the effective operation of the department
  • Manage and coordinate resources to achieve departmental goals
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with departmental standards
Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school or possess a GED
  • Georgia Basic Peace Officer Certification and twenty (20) hours POST training annually as required by POST
  • At least four (4) years experience in the field of law enforcement
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must possess a valid Georgia Class C driver's license
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • No felony convictions during your lifetime
  • No discharge from any military organization less than an honorable discharge
  • No termination for cause from a local, state or federal civil service or merit system job
  • No current financial obligations/contract to any law enforcement agency or department
