Position Overview

Role Summary :
The CT Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting procedures and tests utilizing Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment to gather and interpret patient diagnostic information. This role specifically involves working within the Operating Room, including C-arm operations and portable imaging tasks.
Work Schedule : Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities :
- Patient Verification - Demonstrates professionalism by confirming patient identity, collecting patient history, and providing support to patients and their families. Ensures patient safety and understanding, while also verifying pregnancy status for applicable patients.
- CT Imaging - Acquires images following established protocols, processes images accordingly, performs multi-planar and 3D reconstructions, and exhibits comprehensive knowledge of CT algorithms, selecting suitable window and level settings based on anatomical requirements.
- Contrast Administration - Administers oral contrast to both adult and pediatric patients as per protocols, establishes IV lines, and delivers IV contrast while adhering to safe injection practices. Verifies eligibility for contrast and checks relevant lab values prior to administration.
- Image Management - Maintains a thorough understanding of PACS, transmitting images to quality control, electronic medical records, and PACS systems. Ensures accurate documentation and timely processing of orders, including cancellation of duplicates to prevent billing errors.
- Additional Duties - Completes tasks efficiently, manages the workflow, volunteers for challenging assignments, produces high-quality diagnostic images, reviews patient charts for correlation, maintains a tidy work environment, and documents incidents for departmental improvement. Responsible for mentoring new staff and students.
Additional Information
Educational Requirements:
● Completion of an accredited program in Radiological Science or completion within three months at the time of application.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or eligible for registration. For those eligible, a copy of the diploma from an accredited program is required.
● Advanced certification in CT is required within one year of employment.
● Successful candidates must achieve registration within one year of employment and maintain registry status and continuing education annually.
● All imaging professionals must maintain current competency in HCP BLS.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Relevant education, training, and experience that enable the execution of assigned tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position is classified under the legal employer: STATE, within the entity of UNC Medical Center, specifically in the Radiology OR unit. It is a full-time role with standard hours of 40.00 per week, offering a competitive salary range of $40.09 per hour (hiring range). Pay offers are determined based on experience and internal equity. This position requires onsite work during day shifts and is not exempt from overtime.
