A full-time position for a Speech Pathologist is available within our school-age program, serving students aged 5-21. This role is essential for delivering speech therapy services to our assigned caseload.

This position plays a vital role in the development of children across various age groups. Our operational calendar aligns with the school year, encompassing 48 weeks annually, including a six-week summer program. The salary range for this position is $34.00-$38.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the speech therapy program for the assigned caseload, which includes:
  • 1. Conducting initial evaluations and periodic re-evaluations
  • 2. Planning and implementing tailored therapy programs
  • 3. Coordinating scheduling with classroom staff and related services
  • 4. Facilitating communication among students, counselors, teachers, and case managers
  • 5. Maintaining interdisciplinary communication regarding therapy programs
  • 6. Reporting at team meetings and participating in annual reviews as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with documentation requirements as per Abilities First Inc. policies and relevant programs, adhering to deadlines and agency standards
  • Attend program staff meetings and parent-teacher conferences as directed by program directors
  • Collaborate with educators to develop individualized treatment plans for students
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by program directors
  • If licensed, supervise Clinical Fellowship Year speech pathologists
  • Assist in maintaining therapy locations
  • Provide departmental training sessions as needed
  • Compile a list of required therapy materials for the Program Director
  • Participate in specialized teams, such as Feeding or Augmentative Communication Teams, when appropriate
  • Possess a valid NYS driver's license, free of moving violations, as deemed acceptable by our insurance provider
  • Ensure adherence to ethical and legal standards, including Corporate Compliance and HIPAA regulations, as well as all applicable laws
  • Follow ASHA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, demonstrating integrity, fairness, and respect in all professional interactions
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures, prioritizing personal and others' safety
  • Engage in other relevant job-related activities as requested by supervisors
  • Adhere to State Education rules and regulations, with preschool employees following Office of Children and Family Services policies

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Licensed by the NYS Department of Education as a Speech Pathologist; Clinical Fellowship Year candidates are welcome
  • NYS teacher certification is required
  • Experience with oral motor skills, dysphagia, and augmentative communication is advantageous
