Space Debris Modeling Expert

Mclaurin Aerospace seeks a seasoned professional for a Senior Orbital Debris Modeling position at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
About the JobThis senior-level role will serve as a principal debris research scientist, focusing on measurements, modeling, and mitigation of the orbital debris environment. The selected candidate will provide scientific insight and leadership within NASA's effort to understand the orbital debris environment and develop measures to control debris growth.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain software models and databases of the orbital debris environment
- Provide data analysis for measurement data in direct support of orbital debris/space object engineering models
- Collaborate with JETS-2 Orbital Debris Research & Science Operations (ODRSO) colleagues and NASA Orbital Debris Program Office (ODPO) customers
- Present work products to customers and counterparts (written & verbal)
- Support technical interchange meetings and perform other duties as required
- A terminal degree in Physics, Astronomy, Planetary or Space Sciences, Aerospace Engineering, or related field from an accredited school, and a minimum of 10 years direct experience
- Scientific and technical leadership
- Experience developing and implementing mathematical modeling methods and algorithms, including empirical models
- Proficiency in high-level programming languages and analysis software
- Demonstration of creativity, conception, vision, and personal initiative
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a joint team environment
- $120,000 - $150,000 annual salary range
