Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the implementation, operation, and major functions of the Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Monitor agency-wide policies to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines, regulations, and grant requirements.
  • Serve as the agency's Corporate Compliance Officer and HIPAA Privacy Officer.
  • Chair committees as assigned to review safety matters, HIPAA concerns, or other issues.
  • Oversee the regular operation of, and major functions of the Risk Management Plan.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and liabilities for the agency.
  • Work with Program Directors and supervisors to mitigate potential risks/liabilities.
  • Serve as the primary regulator for Family Service & Guidance Center (FSGC) with the management of potential risks.
  • Act as the primary contact for complaints from those we serve and their family members/support persons.
  • Investigate complaints and conduct activities to ensure the standard of care is met and risk of exposure to FSGC is reduced.
  • Develop and enforce risk management program plans, and enact changes in policy and procedure, and employee/staff behavior to preserve the agency's assets, reputation, and quality care.
  • Provide support to an individual served or family members/support persons after an adverse event or medical error, when needed.
  • Work with the State of Kansas Quality Enhancement Coordinator to foster positive relationships and liaison on issues impacting licensure or other potential risk management issues.
  • Work with Department for Children and Families (DCF) and Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) to maintain additional agency licensures.
  • Promote frequent communication among FSGC departments to ensure risk issues are covered and mitigated.
  • Prepare statistical and narrative reports focusing on risk and liability issues.
  • Manage the agency team of first responders.
  • Review third-party contracts and advise on risk and compliance issues related to third-party business associates.
  • Serve as the agency contact for employee subpoenas and court preparation, including court documentation.
  • Serve as the agency contact for employee questions related to absent parent forms and legal guardian issues.
  • Maintain and monitor agency medical malpractice coverage and agency insurance plans.
  • Act as an ambassador of FSGC in the community setting, which may include doing public educational and informational presentations.
  • Support and actively promote the vision and mission of FSGC and the philosophy of the strengths perspective.
Requirements:
  • At minimum, a master's degree, preferably in a clinical field such as social work, psychology, marriage and family, addiction and recovery, etc.
  • Experience in quality and risk management in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services' (KDADS) licensing standards for mental health and alcohol and/or other drug abuse treatment programs and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) certification criteria is preferred.
  • Familiarity with and the ability to work with Managed Care Organizations (MCO) and insurance companies is preferred.
  • Background experience working with youth who meet the criteria for Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) and/or adults who meet the criteria for Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI), including knowledge of community-based services, is preferred.
  • Must successfully complete the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), Central Registry, and other applicable background investigations and possess a valid Kansas driver's license.
  • Active membership in professional organizations and a willingness to participate in community coalitions or collaborations may be encouraged.
