About the Role

HGA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced design professional to join our San Francisco Healthcare practice group as a Senior Project Architect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a thorough understanding of projects' design philosophy and provide major input in developing a design and building performance strategy.
  • Provide technical design input and support for the development of the entire design concept.
  • Be responsible for a project's technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination and quality control efforts during all phases of project work.
  • Participate in and lead component team meetings to support a collaborative Target Value Design (TVD) process with key project stakeholders.
  • Seek creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develop appropriate research and documents to support these solutions.
  • Actively collaborate with and coordinate the work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated and support the design concept and performance goals of the project.
  • Contribute to the preparation of design documents and lead the detailed development of construction documents during all project phases.
  • Advance the production of schematic, design development, construction document drawings and specifications in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost and design intent.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
  • Review shop drawings, material samples and CD's for conformance with design.
  • Perform construction administration duties, including RFI's, RFP's, change orders, etc.
  • Prepare reports and specifications; review completed reports, plans, cost estimates and calculations.
  • Execute applicable agency review analysis, including accessibility, zoning, life-safety, etc.
  • Establish architectural budget, task schedule and other components of the project work plan in collaboration with Project Manager.
  • Implement meeting objectives, facilitate meetings and provide meeting notes documentation.
  • Maintain contact with clients, consultants and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client and owner presentations as required.
  • Set an example for team effort through the spirit of cooperation while directing, organizing and mentoring junior staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture; Master's degree preferred.
  • Architectural registration required.
  • 15+ years of experience and includes working on small- to large-scale project types.
  • OSHPD experience required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Strong graphics skills are an essential.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and other industry accepted software as well as expertise with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite products is needed.
  • Understanding of the healthcare industry, especially in areas of clinical innovation, operational improvement, planning and strategic positioning for complex hospital systems is needed.
  • Experience with Lean and Evidence-based design a plus.

Salary Range: $137,400 - $168,000
