CFD Research Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling & Simulation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing advanced hypersonic aerodynamic test capabilities that will significantly advance the testing technologies available for high-speed weapon systems.
Key Responsibilities- Aid in the development, verification, and validation of numerous fluid dynamics models to expedite design by providing relevant and timely data, at multiple fidelities, to engineering managers.
- Understand experimental test data and translate it into simulation boundary conditions.
- Automate simulations as much as possible and run them on HPC systems with batch schedulers.
- Rapidly post-process results and present them to the team and customer.
- Be comfortable scripting on remote machines and using Python for offline post-processing.
- Familiarize yourself with the fundamentals of distributed version control for software development.
- US Citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or relevant STEM discipline).
- Previous experience in fluid dynamics modeling & simulation (M&S) - coursework, research, or internship satisfactory.
- Experience with batch scripting on cluster computers.
- Above-average skill writing extensible Python scripts to automatically parse and plot simulation results.
- An active Secret security clearance would be a plus.
- Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- 2-5 years' M&S experience.
- Experience modeling chemically reacting flows.
- Strong foundation in compressible flows, specifically internal flows.
- Background in thermofluids.
- Familiarity with any of the following: STAR-CCM+, Git, Visual Studio Code, and the Java programming-language.
