We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team in the Irving, TX area. This is a 12+ months contract position with a schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 am to 11:30 am.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare surgical specimens for histologic processing according to established policies and procedures.
  • Accurately accession and label specimens, maintaining their integrity and patient identification.
  • Describe gross anatomical features of routine and non-routine specimens, including lesions, markings, and sutures.
  • Record measurements, weight, volume, and abnormal findings as applicable.
  • Dissect surgical specimens and prepare tissues for histologic processing.
  • Oversight and training of Grossing Technicians may be required.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Pathologist Assistant or equivalent and hold AAPA fellowship status and/or PA (ASCP) certification. One year of surgical gross experience is preferred. A strong understanding of laboratory policies and procedures is essential.

This role requires excellent communication skills, with direct interaction with pathologists regarding gross dissection/description activities. The selected candidate will also ensure compliance with local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
