Position Overview
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is in search of a Flight Department Systems Engineer Functional Homeroom Section Manager 2 - FSS. This role is based in Roy, UT and is integral to the Sentinel program. A competitive relocation assistance package may be offered.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate staffing requirements, both current and anticipated, collaborating with team leaders to address these needs.
- Support recruitment efforts, including requisition creation, interview facilitation, and offer approvals.
- Collaborate with program leaders to set personal, programmatic, and functional objectives, conducting performance assessments and merit adjustments for team members.
- Provide career development guidance, mentorship, and necessary disciplinary actions for team members.
- Ensure the acquisition of essential tools and equipment for team members to perform their tasks effectively.
- Develop training plans tailored to program and team member needs.
- Communicate organizational updates and represent the organization effectively to the team and stakeholders.
- Lead technical teams in the development, modification, and maintenance of systems, adhering to engineering best practices and standards, with a focus on Cost Account Management and Risk Management.
- Establish and uphold high standards for engineering development.
- Foster a work environment that emphasizes accountability to Northrop Grumman's core values of integrity, quality, shared success, and innovation.
- Partner with engineering and program management colleagues to ensure efficient resource allocation to meet key mission objectives.
- Coach, support, and motivate team members to achieve high performance levels.
- Initiate and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency in DevOps/Development processes.
- Collaborate with peers and management in resource planning and hiring efforts.
This position entails dual responsibilities, requiring the candidate to engage in both functional management and current program duties, with functional management comprising 20% of the role.

This position follows a standard 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees to work nine-hour days from Monday to Thursday and take every other Friday off. A competitive relocation assistance package may be available.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Must be a US Citizen with an active Secret clearance and an in-scope investigation date within the last 6 years, along with current Special Program Access.
- At least 1 year of experience leading a project and/or managing performance against schedules.
- 3+ years of experience with phases of the systems engineering development life cycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Top-Secret Clearance.
- 2 years of experience in program control (IMS, EVMS), budgeting, and staffing.
- Demonstrated team leadership capabilities.
- Experience in functional management.
- Current technical involvement in the Sentinel Program.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent efforts.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Experience throughout the complete life cycle of a development program.
- Experience in missile systems.
Salary Range: $131,200 - $196,800
The above salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay, designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may qualify for Long Term Incentives.
