The estimated annual salary for this role ranges from $153,000 to $212,000, or higher based on individual qualifications and location. Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product engineers to identify opportunities for performance improvement, scalability, and resilience in large-scale distributed systems.
- Work on extracting performance-critical components into highly optimized horizontal components, providing leverage for all Nextdoor product engineers.
- Participate in developing a distributed, globally replicated graph store with high availability tiered caching, aiming for predictable performance and enabling a fundamental architectural shift at Nextdoor.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in high-performance distributed systems engineering environments, preferably working closely with scaling databases and caches to support fast social product growth.
- Expertise in operating or building distributed datastores, a deep understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, and proficiency in languages like Golang, Rust, C++, Java, or Python.
- Creative problem-solving skills, empathetic collaboration, and optimism to tackle complex issues without known solutions.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Istio, and other container orchestration primitives is beneficial.
