Power Plant Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Control Operator to join our team at Southern California Edison. As a Control Operator, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of our power generation stations, including gas turbines and batteries.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and Maintain Power Generation Stations: Safely and efficiently control and direct the loading of electrical generators and battery energy storage systems on orders from the Generation Dispatcher or the independent system operator.
- Monitor and Analyze Plant Performance: Determine the status of station equipment from previous shift personnel and logbook entries, and by inspection of the indicating instruments on the digital control system (DCS).
- Collaborate with Team Members: Remotely operate equipment from the DCS while directing Operator Mechanics in the local operation of equipment.
- Identify and Resolve Issues: Observe and document abnormal operating conditions in the plant and determine the nature, cause, and corrective actions of the problem.
- Communicate with Stakeholders: Responsible to formally communicate plant status with the Generation Operations Center Grid Control Center and leadership.
- Record and Maintain Data: Read and record data from instruments, compile records and reports, and maintain detailed logs.
- Perform Routine Maintenance: Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties, and perform minor maintenance on plant systems and equipment.
- Train and Develop Team Members: Train and assist other operators as required, and issue and approve work authorizations including clearances, permissions, and approvals to work parties on plant equipment.
- Experience: Two or more years of recent Control Room Operator experience at a commercial power plant.
- Education: Possess a valid Driver's License.
- Knowledge of Power Generation Systems: Knowledge of the principles of electricity, mechanics, and physics as related to the operation of steam station equipment.
- Experience with Digital Control Systems: Experience with location, nomenclature, and function of station equipment, including turbine generators, boilers, heat recovery steam generators, mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, sophisticated instrumentation and automatic control systems, piping systems, remote control, and protection apparatus and switchgear.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience with Ovation, GE Mark 5e/Mark 6e, Wonderware, RS Logix, programmable logic controllers, and other digital control systems.
