Job Summary:
The Meat Market Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the meat department, ensuring that fresh and prepackaged market cases are maintained full and fresh. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping the daily operations of the store, working closely with market personnel to promote customer service and implement new ideas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the buying, transportation, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of meat products to ensure optimal freshness and quality.
- Evaluate products to ensure they consistently meet high company standards.
- Drive sales and profitability through strategic buying, effective merchandising, inventory management, exceptional customer service, and strong salesmanship.
- Monitor and manage department expenses, shrink, and waste.
- Utilize daily sales data to reduce shrink by proper production output.
- Use detailed reports on sales, profits, and trends to make purchasing decisions.
- Train and develop department employees.
- Adhere to all state, local and company policies and regulations on health and safety.
- Work with leadership to execute and promote company directives and promotions/campaigns.
Requirements:
- High school Diploma or GED and five or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
- Food Safety Management certification required.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Prior retail and sales experience.
- Basic computer, math, and data entry skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
