With over 50 years of experience, we have established ourselves as a nationally recognized leader in emergency medicine. Our team is comprised of BC/BE emergency medicine residency-trained physicians who are passionate about providing high-quality care to our patients.
Position Summary
Experienced Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, providing excellence in emergency medical care in various treatment areas, including the Emergency Department, Fast Track, and The Urgency Room. They coordinate care with consultant services, recommend follow-up care, facilitate referrals to internal and external facilities, and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives. Our APCs work rotating shifts within a hospital ED and/or our stand-alone Urgency Room, located in the Twin Cities metro area.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide healthcare services to patients under the supervision of a physician
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and compile patient medical data
- Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as CT scans, x-rays, and laboratory tests, and interpret test results
- Perform therapeutic procedures, including injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and managing infections
- Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in providing continuity of care
- Prescribe, administer, and dispense medications, controlled substances, and medical devices
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens
- Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with patients, family members, co-workers, and other medical professionals
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience working as an APC in a tertiary, high-volume hospital emergency department
- Completion of an accredited physician assistant or nursing practitioner program
- Current licensure with the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice or Minnesota Board of Nursing
- Current ACLS, ATLS, and BLS certification
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple clinical tasks and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, responsibility, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
Working Conditions
APCs work in a hospital emergency department and an acute care clinic, providing a comfortable and well-lit environment. The position requires long periods of sitting and standing, as well as the ability to regularly lift up to 30 pounds. Our team is supervised by and works with several group physicians to provide care to patients. Schedules can vary according to practice setting, but may include days, nights, and weekends.
