Job Title: Lead Budget Analyst

Wake Forest University is seeking a highly skilled Lead Budget Analyst to join our team. As a key member of the Budget and Financial Planning office, you will play a critical role in overseeing administrative support and providing financial expertise to the Reynolda Campus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Validate budget availability for Workday transactions and conduct data/trend and variance analysis.
  • Assist the BFP team with projects, including working with other departments on financial projects and preparing financial analyses for senior management.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in budget and financial planning, as well as Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • Train others on processes and procedures in Workday and Adaptive Planning.
  • Provide assistance and training to campus users in developing and submitting annual budgets and forecasts in Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • Perform information research and analysis, including collecting and updating peer data for benchmarking exercises and presentations.
  • Collaborate with the Director to create presentations for various executive and departmental meetings.
  • Exercise considerable discretion and independent judgment in analyzing complex information requests and determining trends.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline with at least 5 years of related and progressively more responsible financial work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expertise in Excel and Google Sheets, including template development, pivot tables, lookups, and various sum functions.
  • Strong logical and analytical problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of fund accounting principles, budget preparation, and fiscal controls.
  • Proven ability to perform information research and analysis for new projects, with familiarity with sources for researching higher education issues.
  • Experience in budgeting or strategic planning for an academic environment is a plus but not required.
