The Exclusion Specialist plays a crucial role in identifying and sealing potential entry points for pests within commercial establishments. This includes addressing cracks in foundations, inadequately sealed vents, drainpipes, and other vulnerable areas.

Regular assessments within commercial settings are essential. This involves documenting and analyzing the presence of insects and rodents captured in monitoring devices at various locations such as:

  • Food manufacturing and processing facilities
  • Food storage warehouses
  • Large-scale flour and feed mills

Monitoring is conducted using tools such as flashlights, magnifying glasses, and handheld scanning devices to identify issues and track monitoring device captures.

Evaluation of food safety practices is also a key responsibility, ensuring that products remain free from pest infestation or contamination. This includes pinpointing problems in procedures, physical structures, and sanitation practices observed during each visit.

Effective communication with food safety and quality assurance contacts at each site is vital to relay concerns and facilitate timely resolutions.

The Exclusion Specialist must utilize problem-solving skills, effective communication, and logical reasoning to eliminate and manage pest issues and rectify unsuitable conditions at each location.

Residential Responsibilities:

Providing estimates for clients, identifying pest issues, and developing tailored treatment plans are essential tasks. This includes preparing estimates, pricing, and utilizing handheld devices for data entry.

Preparation of chemical solutions in accordance with label instructions is required.

Preventative maintenance treatments for the exteriors of structures are conducted using gas-powered spraying equipment.

Emergency response for hornet and wasp nests may be necessary, with some on-call weekend or after-hours availability required.

Rodent management involves identifying problems, addressing customer inquiries, and establishing rodent control strategies.

Maintaining clear communication with the office regarding daily assignments and any rescheduling needs is essential.

Keeping the service vehicle clean, organized, and ready for inspection at all times is expected.
