Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recreational Therapy Aide to join our team at the State of New Mexico. As a Recreational Therapy Aide, you will play a vital role in providing psychosocial classes and activities to patients in a classroom setting at our Long Term Care (LTC) Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans and curriculum for all psychosocial classes
  • Instruct required classes based on patient needs and participate in special events
  • Work collaboratively with treatment teams to ensure patient-centered care
  • Provide support and guidance to patients with mental health needs
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in a hospital setting or with mentally ill patients
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions

This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual /Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations required.
