We are seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team at the University of Michigan. As a key member of our oral health care team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality dental services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct oral health care to patients, including scaling, polishing, flossing, and brushing teeth.
- Evaluate and record oral conditions, complete dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planning procedures with or without local anesthesia, and administer modifications to care.
- Document treatment rendered and facilitate any necessary dental treatment in collaboration with dental residents and faculty providers.
- Provide oral hygiene instruction for patients, family, and caregivers on proper dental care and diet for good dental health.
- Participate in meaningful research projects in collaboration with the School of Dentistry and Michigan Medicine.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning directly related to the duties of the position.
- Graduation from an accredited program in Dental Hygiene.
- Passed the National Board of Dental Hygiene exam.
- Valid Registered Dental Hygienist Licensing for the state of Michigan.
- BLS certification.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in the dental field.
- Knowledge of dental clinic practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of University policies, practices, and regulations.
This position requires moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.
