Clinical Expanded Function Dental Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Expanded Function Dental Assistant to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our dental team, you will be responsible for providing advanced clinical assistance to our dentists and hygienists, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Assist in the performance of advanced clinical procedures, including expanded functions, under the supervision of a licensed dentist.
- Provide patient care and education, including oral hygiene instruction and preventative education.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of dental equipment and instruments.
- Participate in infection control and sterilization procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- Collaborate with other dental team members to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow.
- Graduation from a dental assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Successful completion of a radiation health and safety program or examination approved by a state board of dentistry or the Department of Defense (DoD).
- Current certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, dentists, and other healthcare professionals.
This position requires the ability to work in a clinical setting, with frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other infectious materials. The successful candidate must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow infection control procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
